WWII: German & Soviet Banknote Set – 1938 to 1945 – World War II Cheap Pice Wholesale Pice

These two banknotes were printed during World War II, and we have offered them as a set to commemorate the Battle of Stalingrad between Germany and the Soviet Union.

In the Battle of Stalingrad (August 1942 to February 1943), German forces fought the Soviet Union for control of the city of Stalingrad in Southern Russia. Marked by fierce close-quarters combat and direct assaults on civilians in air raids, Stalingrad stands as one of the bloodiest battles in the history of warfare, with an estimated 2 million total casualties. After their defeat at Stalingrad, the German High Command had to withdraw considerable military forces from other theaters of war to replace their losses.

The notes included are:

• Soviet Union (USSR), 1 rouble, 1938. The design features the image of a miner, representative of the glorified working class.
• Germany, Third Reich, 20 Reichsmarks, 1940 to 1945. The design features an engraving known as “The Architect” by Renaissance artist Albrecht Dürer on the obverse, while the reverse shows the famous Brandenburg Gate.
